Skilled Worker Visa
UK Skilled Worker Visas are can be applied for by candidates who receive a Certificate of Sponsorship and offer of employment from Licenced Sponsors. UK Skilled Worker Visas are approved subject to meeting specific requirements set out by UKVI.
The criteria can be subject to change, but the key evidence needed to show are as follows:
- The Candidate is aged 18 or over at the time of application
- The job offer is for a genuine vacancy that meets the criteria for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route
- The roles is at the required skill level, or above
- The salary paid for the role meets the minimum salary requirements as outlined by UKVI
- The Sponsor has paid the Immigration Skills Charge if it is required for this role
- The candidate meets the English Language requirements for the role. Please note that as of 8th January 2026, candidates must demonstrate CEFR Level B2 English proficiency (IELTS 5.5-6.5) in reading, writing, speaking and listening
- Candidate must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds to support themselves on arrival in the UK, unless the sponsor confirms that they will cover maintenance costs
- Candidate must provide a criminal record certificate, if the job they are applying for requires one (such as health or social care)

Dependent Visa
Dependent Visas allows immediate family members of certain UK Visa holders who are overseas to come to the UK. There is no standalone Dependent Visa in the UK; there are several different options depending on the status of the main Visa holder.
Who Qualifies as Dependent?
- Candidate must provide a criminal record certificate, if the job they are applying for requires one (such as health or social care)
- Unmarried Partner – Unmarried partner can also qualify if they have been in a relationship similar to marriage or civil partnership for at least two (2) years prior to the application
- Children – Dependent children under the age of 18 can usually accompany or join the primary Visa holder, subject to route-specific rules
- Parents and other Adult Relatives – In limited circumstances, parents or other close adult relatives can qualify if they require long term personal care that cannot be provided or arranged in their home country
Please note that the duration of the Dependent Visa is usually tied to the validity period of the main Visa holder’s visa. (e.g. if the main Visa holder’s Visa is valid for three (3) years, then so will the dependent Visa.
As of 22nd July 2025, new Medium level Skilled worker visa (RQF Level 3-5) are no longer eligible to bring dependents to the UK. Only those in roles of High Skill (RQF Level 6 and above) are eligible. Existing dependents who applied before 22nd July 2025 are not affected and can remain in the UK and extend their dependent Visas.
Since January 2024, international students are not eligible to bring dependents to the UK unless they are in PhD studies or are enrolled in a Postgraduate Research Programme.
As of 11th March 2024, Care Workers and Senior Care Workers are no longer permitted to bring dependents. Any dependents of Care Workers and Senior Care Workers who were employed before 11th March 2024 are not affected by this rule and can still remain in the UK and extend their dependent Visas
What documents are required for Dependents?
Dependent Visa Applications will be asked to provide a number of documents to support their application. The exact list varies depending on the type of Visa held by the main applicant. Some documents or information that is typically required to evidence is as follows:
- Proof of Identity – Dependent needs to provide proof of their identity e.g. Passport
- Proof of relationship to main Visa holder – Dependent needs to provide proof of their relationship e.g. birth certificate, marriage certificate
- Proof of dependence – Dependent must show proof that they share the same address as the main Visa holder
- Proof of funds – Main Visa holder must show they have sufficient funds that meet UKVI requirements for dependents, these funds must be held in account for at least 28 consecutive days

Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS):
The confirmation of acceptance for studies (CAS) is a reference number, provided by your educational institute. The CAS is legitimate proof that you have been inducted by the respective institute, in a particular course. You have to put this reference number in your Tier 4 Student Visa application.
